WHAT IS IT

A door handle is more than, to be used for opening and closing doors. The handle is the frontier, the door the limit between two universes. The handle has two interpretations: one visionary and another tactile. When the latter takes over the first, it leaves off to exist setting free its own being which is the hidden “esprit” of all things.

Door handle has true personality while holding it in hand. A controlled shape, firm yet delicately contoured form which will sit in one’s hand with all its sensorial honesty, while opening or closing a door as an everyday act of living.

It would be strange to speak of a doorhandle without talking about the door. The door relates to space or rather two kinds of spaces; inside and outside, here or there. Every space has its own sound and light. Then there are all the things, the objects and furniture which form part of the space. And of course there are the people! We never think about an object without thinking about people.

WHERE CAN IT BE USED

• Entrance: These door handles are typically used on exterior doors, and include keyed cylinders.
• Privacy: Typically used on bedrooms and bathrooms; while they are lockable (unlockable with a generic tool), they do not have keyed cylinders.
• Passage: Also known as hall or closet, these do not lock and are used in hall or closet doors.
• Dummy: These types are used for ball catch doors or other applications where a jigger mechanism is not needed, but a similar aesthetic effect is desired.

HPS HIGH PROTECTION SYSTEM

TREATMENT PROTECTION GUARANTEED 30 YEARS Colombo Design uses a finishing process borrowed from the tools industry, where physical and mechanic features have to guarantee a very high performance as far as mechanic wear and decay due to environmental and chemical agents are concerned.

This finishing process also guarantees a high level of design where transparency and brightness allow the product to show up. All PVD-treated items, HPS finish are previously coated with layers of copper, nickel and chrome in order to guarantee the perfect insulation of the underlying raw material.

COATING PERFORMANCE

HPS treated Colombo Design products guarantee better performance than any other type of coating, either galvanic or lacquer.

The use of these products is strongly recommended in such places as high-salinity marine areas or areas subject to acid rains. The use in bright sunshine and temperature ranges does not cause color changes. The hardness of the coating and the low rate of surface friction ensure a very good resistance to scratches due to the use of rings (for example). Any dents due by hits or impact can spoil the surface and affect the coating performance.
