DORMA has 4 companies in the region, 3 in the UAE and one in Saudi Arabia with branches and staff located in a total of 8 cities throughout the Middle East.
DORMA has been actively involved with some of the region’s leading projects such as the Qatar Convention Centre, Mall of Arabia (Jeddah), Burj Al Arab (Dubai), Bibliotheca Alexandrina (Alexandria), Emirates Palace Hotel (Abu Dhabi), Burj Khalifa, Abu Dhabi Convention Centre (ADNEC), Dubai Metro, Meydan Racecourse Dubai and various airports including Dubai Airport to name a few.
DORMA is committed to sustainable development
DORMA's aim is to ensure energy-saving and resource-conserving production, a high recycling ratio and the longevity of our quality products. With comprehensive advice, innovative products and an international service capability, we are able to make a significant contribution to energy efficiency and to drive cost savings derived from sustainable building concepts. DORMA supports Masdar’s green initiatives, which would be a role model for the entire world on how sustainability can be implemented with the right balance of design, material choice and energy supply systems.
As a member of various organisations and an active partner in research projects being run by, for example, the Fraunhofer-Institut (FutureLab) and the University of Lucerne (iHomeLab), DORMA is involved in futurealigned development work in both the commercial and residential construction sectors. International certification systems such as the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) render sustainability in buildings transparent and measurable. They help clients to evaluate the ecological and economic characteristics of their build.
DORMA – at home in green buildings
All around the world, there are numerous examples demonstrating just how sustainable the construction and the operation of buildings can be. One impressive case is the new building of the Belgian energy utility INFRAX which is truly a model for a new generation of energy-efficient office complexes. With a clever interplay of all the systems involved, it offers reductions of up to 35% in energy consumption compared to conventional office buildings, while CO2 emissions are reduced by 36%. Among the contributors to this positive overall balance are automatic doors and glass fittings and accessories from DORMA, of which the reliable function and long service life are very much in keeping with the concept of sustainability.
